What account deletion means
Account deletion is a request to remove your Signal account and the personal information associated with that account, subject to information Signal may need to retain for legitimate legal, security, transaction, dispute, fraud-prevention, documentation, or similar purposes.
Deleting an account is different from signing out or temporarily deactivating access. A deletion request concerns the account record and associated personal information, not only your ability to log in.

How to request deletion
Email Signal from the address associated with your account when possible. Use the subject Signal Account Deletion Request and state that you want Signal to delete your account.
This is currently a reviewed request process. Sending the email does not automatically delete the account.

Information needed to verify the request
To protect accounts and customer organizations, Signal may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity and authority over the account. This may include your name, account email, company or organization, role, and information that helps identify the relevant account. Do not send passwords or full payment-card information.

Information associated with the account
After verification and review, Signal will address account and associated personal information in accordance with applicable requirements and approved retention practices. This may include profile and identity details, account access information, and personal information connected to use of the Services.
Delivery records may also involve a customer organization, receiving party, provider, transaction, proof record, or legal documentation requirement. Deleting one user's account does not necessarily require deletion of a business record that Signal or another organization must legitimately retain.

Information that may need to be retained
Signal may retain limited information when reasonably needed for legal obligations, transaction and delivery documentation, security and fraud prevention, disputes, enforcement of agreements, or protection of the Services and users. Retained information should remain subject to appropriate safeguards and should not be kept longer than needed for the applicable purpose.
